January 10, 2018

One of the great things about the numerous holidays throughout the year is the fact that indulgence is encouraged! We all need to indulge our sweet tooth from time to time and these holidays allow you to do so in style as there is so much availability. Additionally, there are many delicious themed treats that are made just for the holidays. Here are a few of the holidays that any candy lover will have circled in their calendar. *This is a collaborative post*

Pancake Day

Chocolate for Valentines Day

Kicking things off on February 13th is Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day as it is commonly known. This is a Christian celebration of feasting for lent, but in modern times it is celebrated by many and simply a good reason to indulge in fluffy pancakes. There are endless types that you could have, but those with a sweet tooth will enjoy topping theirs with chocolate chips.

Valentine’s Day

Just a day later is Valentine’s Day on February the 14th! Chocolates and romance go hand in hand, so this is the perfect day to treat your partner to a special box of heavenly treats. Popular chocolatiers always make all kinds of beautiful boxes and delicious chocolates for the most romantic day of the year, so you are sure to find a type that you and your partner can enjoy together after a nice meal.

Easter

Easter is the next major holiday in the calendar where there is a heavy focus on confectionery. This is another Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus, but again it is celebrated by many non-believers too. Easter is synonymous with chocolate eggs and this comes from the egg symbolising new life and rebirth. People would originally decorate chicken eggs, but now chocolate eggs have become a tradition and there are endless types to consider when you shop at popular chocolatiers like Thorntons.

Halloween

Towards the end of the year in October, we have the spooky holiday of Halloween, which is as popular for sweets and chocolate as it is scary films. Sweets are associated with Halloween because of Trick-or-Treating – a tradition where children dress up and go door to door asking for treats with the phrase “Trick or Treat”. At this time of year, you get all kinds of fantastic Halloween themed confectionery that is enjoyed by both kids and adults alike.

These are the main holidays throughout the year where everybody indulges their sweet tooth. It is important to indulge from time to time, but these holidays are when you will get all kinds of tantalising and beautiful chocolates and other treats hitting the shelves.
