Slimming world update: 14 weeks in.

This is probably only going to be a short post but its a bit more than I would write in a facebook status so thought I would post it here instead.
Plus it ties in with my previous post about slimming world and the reasons I joined which you can read here.

So far, I have lost 21 pounds. Thats a stone and a half. Or 9.5kg. Or the equivalent of 3048 teabags. Or 3527 tennis balls. Whatever  – It is also half way through my target of 3 stone.

The last 3 weeks, I haven’t lost any weight. I’ve not gained any either though so I’ve been fairly happy with that. Especially as any gain would have taken away from the 1.5 stone that I’ve lost and put me back above that figure.

I’ve not been feeling motivated. I’ve not been bothered about what I’ve been eating.
I haven’t completely sabotaged myself and eaten take away each night but I certainly haven’t counted syns and on a few occasions, I had bacon sandwiches, didn’t bother cutting the fat off, and even used white bread!! (I know, but it was soooo good!!)

Two weeks in a row, I’ve really had to force myself to get up and go to group. Both weeks its been raining and its a 45 minute walk to get there which does little to convince me. It wasn’t even the fear of a gain that was putting me off, I was just losing motivation. I didn’t care enough to put the effort in. recipebooks

However, I made myself go. I did it. I’m glad I did because if I didn’t, I probably wouldn’t have gone back at all.
I normally leave my house at 8.30 am to get there on time and at 9.00 today, I still hadn’t even got Dexter dressed! I had no intention of going. 5 minutes later, it had stopped raining and something possessed me to get Dexter dressed and bike it there instead of walking. By 9.07 we were out the door!

Once you get to a point where you stop going even when you can, it’s a much harder feat to make yourself go again. Keep going and don’t pressure yourself. Don’t worry if you go over your syns, you can pull it back tomorrow or even with your next meal but make sure you go to group. Don’t even worry if you have a gain. As long as your losses outweigh your gains overall, you’ll get there. Tell your consultant how you feel if its a motivation thing or if you struggle at certain times of the day or with certain foods, share with your group and they will always suggest something that will help you. Even if you are going to a local restaurant, other members may have been there so will be able to suggest something from the menu that will keep you on plan. Going and staying to group is the best thing you can do.

So anyway, I’ve had 3 weeks of maintaining but have still gone and have not gained so as I said, I’m very happy with that but today I spent some of my birthday money on 2 new recipe books. I’m hoping these will give me the kick up the bum I’ve needed and now I’ve got that lack of motivation out of my system I should be able to get back on track and start losing again.

Tonight we are having burgers and chips. Liam and Dexter get to have normal burgers which they love. I have my own home made slimming world turkey burgers which work out about half a syn each. We have them in wholemeal buns with cheese which count as my healthy extras and then serve with salad and slimming world chips. Deeee-lish!

My question for you is how do you get back your motivation? What makes you go to group if you really aren’t feeling it? Have you ever almost quit? What convinced you to carry on?

    Well done for pushing yourself. I am in a similar situation at the moment, been going since the start of the year and well on my way to losing 2.5 stone, but I’ve lost all motivation, even though I have such a long way to go.

      Thanks, I hd all that motivation when I wrote that post though and its since wavered. Might have to sit down and seriously think about why I joined. I wish I still had the motivation I had when I wrote this post…

    Well done for still going to group. I am struggling. I had lost 3 and a half stone but now I have only lost 1 stone 13lbs!! I feel SICK thinking about that! All since I have come back from holiday
    We can do it!! My head is slowly getting back into it!!

      Since I wrote that, all motivation ha wavered again. Gunna try and still go to group this week but if I don’t, that will be it I think. I’m trying to get back in the mind set and I’d really love to be at least another half stone lighter by my sons birthday. #Wecandoit!

    You have done so well so far one and a half stone is great. I am lacking in motivating lately and i have only been on the plan six weeks xx

    Good for you for keeping at it! And those two books have been urging me to buy them for a few weeks now. Are they worth the purchase??

      Hi, yeah there are some good recipes in the books and even if you don’t want to follow the slimming world plan they’re still tasty and healthy
