QBlogger – Festive Feast at Queensgate, Peterborough

December 11, 2017

This year I was invited to join the team of Queensgate Bloggers and at the end of November, I was invited to my first event – A Qblogger Festive Feast tasting session. As this was my first event,  I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect but I was soon at ease and chatting away with some faces I recognised. Laid out on the tables among the festive decorations were some delicious treats from many of Queensgate’s retailers and restaurants. We had been advised to arrive hungry, ready for our feast and there was a huge array of choice.

From John Lewis there was:Chocolate and Orange Cake, Caramel Shortcake, Lemon Meringue pie, Lemon Drizzle Cake, Bakewell cake all from their cafe and then Pickerings Gin Babubles, Unicorn Tears Gin and a Bean Boozled advent Calendar

Pret

Pret had two offerings of sandwich platters,  a Christmas lunch and a vegetarian Christmas Lunch. I’ve been told that they rate quite highly on the Christmas sandwich stakes this year!
The Christmas Lunch consisted of thick slices of Norfolk free-range turkey breast on malted bread with a dollop of slightly tart port & orange cranberry sauce. Served with Pret’s herby stuffing – made with beautifully seasoned minced pork, streaky bacon and apricots. Topped with crispy onions.
The vegetarian offering was roasted chunks of butternut squash, spicy rocket and nutty Christmas pesto made with walnuts and pecans. Served with a spoonful of yoghurt & mayo dressing and a sprinkling of crispy onions on malted bread.
The platters also included Mature Cheddar and Pret Pickle, Ham and Cheese, Smoked Salmon, Chicken and Bacon Caesar & Egg along with Melvin the melted gingerbread snowman

From M&S

Marks and Spencers’ had a fab range and all was really tasty! I loved the Turkey and Cranberry sausage roll but they also provided Pigs in Blanket flavoured crisps with pork crispies, M&S Mince Pies and a Festive Sandwich selection which comprised of Turkey Feast, Brie and Grape, Prawn and Smoked Salmon and Ham Hock and Golden Beetroot Piccalilli.

Lots of yummies from M&S: Festive Sandwiches, Pigs in blanket flavour crisps, and mince pies

Mince Pies and a crackling fire… What could be more festive?

Carluccio’s
