Weeks Gestation – 29
Due Date – 24th Jan
Size of baby – Apparently the size of a baby elephant! I had a midwife appointment on Friday, she measured my bump 3 times and marked her down as being way above the 90th centile and with a significant jump from her last measurement. She contacted the hospital for them to call me to to arrange a growth scan for this week. I’m expecting to hear from them on Monday but if I haven’t heard by Tuesday morning, I’m to call them and find out whats going on.
Sleep – Dexter has developed a habit of coming in to our bed in the middle of the night. Anyone that’s slept with a toddler knows how fidgety they are and so I not only have BabyGirl wriggling around on the inside, I have him kicking and poking about and arms flailing everywhere while both Liam and I cling on to the edge of the bed for dear life and have no room.. So no, sleep is not currently being had. Once I’m on mat leave tho, we’ll be getting him back into routine and then hoping we might get some kip before BG arrives.
Food cravings – Fancying more fruit lately which is good. I saw this in our local Tesco and ended up eating a plum, a few grapes and 2 satsumas just while wandering around getting 1 basket of shopping!
Baby developments – Her teeth are now in her gums and ready for when she starts teething, her eyes are open and she can see. Her brain can now control her temerature and breathing. I’ve looked at belly mapping so I could work out where she is and at first I couldn’t work it out. Then she moved positions and I knew straight away where she was. Her head is down and her back curves round on the right side of my bump (my right) and her limbs are in the left. My midwife also confirmed this at my appointment.
My bump – is getting far too big. I know I’ve mentioned it before my shower cubical is becoming a bit tight. Let me show you what I mean…
This is my shower… and then me trying to get in it. Excuse the mirror pics, I know they’re horrible but I cant find my selfie stick 🙁
As you can see, she’s getting in the way a bit.
Belly button – Is no longer an inny. It’s not an outy either but it’s on it’s way. I think it will be sticking out by the time she’s here
Me – Feeling better this week. It may have something to do with having 6 days off work and then only having 6 shifts left at work!
I’ll be sad to leave my friends but so happy to have my evenings with the boys and not be on a time limit to get things done each day.
I’m a bit nervous about what they’re going to say at the growth scan when I get the appointment for it. I’ve only heard of growth scans for when baby is too small, not when they’re too big. I’m hoping there isn’t any reason to induce me or to give me a caesarean. I’ve got another midwife appointment on the 27th and then the scan for the placenta on the 30th to see if its moved so this growth scan is another appointment to add to the ever growing list.
Exercise – I think I might have to start looking up antenatal exercise videos. Not working will mean I don’t get that 15 mins walk each way every day. I have a gym ball so I might look for something that uses that.
Baby items purchased – I have a pack of new born nappies and some cotton wool ready for the hospital. To be honest, I seem to have forgotten what I needed from last time so my heads a bit fuzzy. Need to get on with looking at this, at least make a shopping list for the more necessary bits.
Hospital bag – So far has a colouring book for me, along with toothbrush, toothpaste and face wipes. For her, I’ve got 3 vests, a few onesies, nappies, cotton wool. I know I’m way off it being ready but at least there something in there should anything unexpected happen.
Baby Names – I have 23 twitter followers to go to reach my target of 800 before Christmas before christmas for me to reveal her name. I’m quite excited at revealing it for you.
What I’m looking forward to – This hasn’t changed from the last update… Finishing work on the 19th of November and being at home with Liam and Dexter in the evenings. My mat leave doesn’t start until the 25th but I have some holiday to use up too so my last working day is the 19th. Then I can start to relax an get the house in order for Christmas and start sorting out Baby’s room.
How is Dexter dealing with it? – He talks about her and can say her name. He plays with his dolly and feeds her so he’s got a good grasp on things so far. Oh and of course he’s still kissing my belly and helping with the coconut oil 🙂
As always, thanks for reading xx
