I haven’t really written many posts about my pregnancy so far and this time round I thought I’d be sharing way more than I actually have. So, time to remedy that with my first proper pregnancy update. (Especially given that I’m almost half way through already!)
Weeks Gestation – 18+2
Due date – 24th Jan 2016
Size of baby – Head to rump, baby is about 5 1/2 inches long, and weighs almost 7 ounces so apparently about the size of a bell pepper.
Stretch marks? No more than what I had before. Sadly I cant find my coconut oil since the house move and really wanted to use it all the way through this one.
Sleep: Waking up once a night on average for water and then to pee.
Food cravings: No real cravings as such. Normally being a savoury fiend, I am finding myself wanting more chocolate, milkshakes and fizzy flavoured water. Oh and plenty of squash.
Morning sickness: None. So far these past 18 weeks I’ve only suffered with sickness about 4 times and even then, I wasn’t actually sick, I just felt really rough.
Gender: Unknown as yet. We have our 20 week scan next week. Liam would like to find out. I’m still unsure if I want to know or not. I may ask the sonographer to tell Liam but not me. I have a feeling it may be a girl but I don’t know anything for sure.
Baby developments – Baby is having a whale of a time fidgeting all over the place. I can’t always feel the movements so when I do, I try and stay still so I can enjoy it.
My bump – I loved my bump last time round and watching this one grow from the start is amazing. I’m loving taking the bump shots with my new selfie stick. It makes it so much easier, so expect more of them as we get further along.
Also, I can no longer lay flat on my front.
My symptoms – I have moments of dizziness if I don’t stick to my morning routine but nothing major. Got some serious heartburn going on the last few days. I shall be ringing the midwife soon for a prescription of that horrible tasting jollop I had with Dexter. Dexter has gone back to napping once a day so I have joined him on several occasions too. Mainly so that I have enough energy to still go to work in the evenings!
Exercise – I went swimming yesterday with Mum, the siblings, a niece and of course Dexter. It was so lovely to float about with Dexter and there were plenty of people with us for me to be able to go off for a swim on my own for a bit. If it wasn’t so darned expensive I’d love to go every week.
No longer cycling to work but I am walking so still getting exercise there too. Baby items purchased – So far nothing, apart from a moses basket. Very lacking in the purchasing department. Baby’s room – Hahahaha! Dont make me laugh! What room? Currently it’s storage for all the boxes we are still yet to unpack and Darwin has made himself a home on the window sill as its the least used room and he doesn’t get disturbed in there!
Baby Names – We have 2 possible names for a girl and one possible middle name for a boy, depending on if we can find a first name that goes with it. Mum REALLY hates one of our girls name choices but its so funny watching her reaction when we mention it. Lol. What I’m looking forward to – Having our 20 week scan towards the end of next week. Can’t wait to see my little bubba on the screen again. How is Dexter dealing with it? – He’s such a fidget that sometimes he climbs all over me and knees me or kicks me in the belly but I explain that the bubba is in there and he says sorry bubba and kisses my belly. He talks to the baby and gives my bump hugs. He doesn’t completely understand but he’s getting there. He also knows that the spare room is bubba’s room, the moses basket is bubba’s bed and seems a little excited when we talk about it.

You look tiny for 18 weeks…I felt like a whale at this point in my pregnancy. I really wish I had started blogging during my pregnancy, it would have been nice to document the whole 9 months. I remember being so excited for our 20 week scan, couldn’t wait to find out what we were having. I was never actually sick either, just felt sick in the mornings and lost my appetite.
It still feels really early on, Doesn’t feel like almost half way already. It’s crazy. I didn’t really document much of the first one so thought I’d better make more effort this time round.
Aww such a lovely post, and a great idea to do pregnancy updates. I remember being super unorganised the second time around when it came to purchasing baby bits and getting the room ready. Enjoy your 20week scan when it comes around.
Haha Unorganised is an understatement I think. If its a boy, theres very little that we would have to buy as we kept everything of D’s. But then saying that, Even if its a girl, its only clothes we would need.
Don’t let anyone put you off a name you like. If you like it, everyone else will get used to it. I told my Mum we were seriously considering Kasendrek as she kept suggesting her own names.
Awe so lucky to have no sickness!! And with the names…mine was the same way with one of our choices. It started to bug me after a while! I didn’t want what she thought to influence what we chose…hehe #bestandworst
Great update! You sound like you are doing really well. I was really lazy getting the room ready for my first! Let us know what it is if you find out! Thanks for sharing with #bestandworst and see you soon xx

Haha She didn’t like Dexters name either but that didn’t stop us!
Heaps of luck. You can order coconut oil from Asda online – charge £1 for delivery so you don’t even have to leave the house!
