If you’ve not heard of them before, the MAD blog awards (Tots100 Mum and Dad awards) is a blogging award ceremony for parenting bloggers and the nominations are now open. This year, and for the first time ever, I am asking for your vote. If you regularly read my blog and enjoy my posts, please read on… (if you don’t, please read on anyway… I’ll give you cake!)
I’ve been blogging for 3 years now but I am very aware that I’m a very small, ordinary fish in a very vast and diverse ocean. I don’t consider myself to be an authority on anything in particular that I write about. Be that as it may, I believe in the ethos you’ve got to be in it to win it and if you don’t try, you’ll never know. I know right? Cliche or what?!
There are 14 categories in this years MAD awards and these are the ones I would love to be considered for.
Blog of the Year
The MAD Blog of the Year award recognises the UK parent blogger who has excelled over the past 12 months, someone who produces unmissable content that never fails to entertain, inspire and inform.
Let’s face it, Who wouldn’t want to win that? It’s an awesome title “Oh ya know, I just won the Blog of the Year and the MAD blog awards, no biggy”! But seriously, there are so many other blogs a gazillion times better than mine, I won’t waste your time on this one. If you think I deserve it.. well, maybe you’re crazy, but I like you!
Best Pregnancy Blog
This category celebrates those bloggers at the start of a brand new parenting adventure, who are blogging about pregnancy. This category is open to anyone who has blogged about pregnancy in the 12 months preceding the awards launch.
Blogging about my pregnancy with Paisley was so much fun, from her gender scan and name reveal, right up to her birth. Writing about it was an amazing part of our journey and what made it better was knowing that people were actually reading it and following along with excitement. With many people pregnant at the same time as me, I really loved being a source of information and help to others too. If you feel the same, I would really appreciate a vote in this category.
Best Baby Blog
From first smiles to sleepless nights, UK parent bloggers are the place to go for advice, support and inspiration when you’re a parent to a new baby. This award category recognises our very favourite bloggers with babies under one.
I know Paisley is only 2 months old so I haven’t really written much about her baby days as yet but we are still getting to know each other. As her personality develops and she grows and learns new things, she will become a much bigger part of the blog but you can’t vote for me based on promises so check out her birth story and maybe her first and second month updates to see if you think I deserve a vote in this category.
Best Pre-School Blog
We think nothing is more fun than a toddler, and this award category celebrates those bloggers who are capturing the pre-school years. Whether it’s inspirational crafts and toddler-friendly recipes or ideas for pre-school activities, these bloggers have got it covered!
“And that’s the one Marv that’s the silver tuna!” This is the category I would MOST LOVE your vote for. Dexter and I have so much fun *almost* everyday and I really hope that it comes across on here. If it doesn’t, then I may as well just quit writing as he was my original inspiration for this blog and the reason I started it in the first place. I started writing when I was 5 months pregnant with him and he turns 3 in just a few months. My blogging journey has seen his first trip to the zoo to his first steps along with countless messy play episodes including this one and this one. We’ve seen him learn to stop and go, learn to thread beads and seen him get very mucky in puddles. We’ve even seen him learn to cook. These are the things we love to do. We aren’t bothered about the mess that comes with learning. We are in it for the joy of discovery and I love sharing that with you. If you love reading these adventures as much as we love them and writing about them then please, please vote for me in this category.
Best Craft Blog
This category recognises all those amazing blogs that get us crafting, sticking, cutting and making with children.
And finally craft.. Most of our crafts just go into micro posts on our facebook page as we do so many of them. If they don’t go on there, they end up in our Friday Phone Dump posts. I hope that some of you see these posts and have a go at some of our crafts yourself. There will be plenty more to come I’m sure, including a new feature to the blog, especially as we have recently started working with Baker Ross who deal in a variety of crafts supplies for fundraising and curriculum crafts for educational programs. If I have previously or do regularly inspire you to get crafting with your littles, then again, I would appreciate the nomination.
As I said before, I am still relatively small in a huge world of bloggers and by no means expect to win any of these blog awards (or even make a shortlist) but being nominated for any of the categories would feel like a huge achievement. It doesn’t take long at all to do it. Just click on the image below where you will be taken to the nomination page and just add my URL to the categories you would like to nominate me for.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my readers for stopping by. I mainly write this for my own pleasure but it makes it all the better to have you guys reading along with me, especially when you keep coming back for more. I must be doing something right.
