If you aren’ t sure how to join in with linkies/linkups/link shares I’m going to give you a quick guide on how to join in with mine.
The basics of these instructions will be similar for other blogs but they may vary on layouts and plugins used so aren’t all the same. I remember being a bit confused the first time I joined one. It took me a while to figure out but once you know what you’re doing its simple enough.
Firstly, you need to have a post that you want to add that fits the theme. There are lots of linkies out there and all follow different ideas. Mine is called Friday Phone Dump as its a way of getting use out of the pictures we take every day but don’t necessarily want or need in our blog posts but obviously are still relevant to our day to day lives. Other types of posts that are similar could be ‘The week that was‘ or ‘Our week in pictures’.
If you haven’t already got a post that fits this theme, they are simple enough to write. It’s just a brief post about what you’ve been up to over the last week with some images from your phone included. If you have a montage app you can put them all together in that or use the images as they are. Check out my latest linky post to give you an idea.
Once you’ve published the post, you need to copy the URL of it which is the bit at the top in the address bar. Then make your way over to my linky page. Click the blue button at the bottom of the post where it says add your link…
Then you will get a page like this…
If you fill in the top box by pasting the URL that you just copied form your post and then click into the second box, it will normally add the link title automatically but if not you can always just name it yourself using the title you already chose or call it something else. An image will appear in image box (where you can currently see the frog). If you aren’t happy with that you can select a new one that comes up in the selection. When you’re happy, just click done.
Next it will bring you to a screen where you can share your post and the linky via social medias. If you let me know you’ve shared using these options I can re-share for you too. This part isn’t a requirement so its up to you. Or you can just click Take me back to the linkup!
If you’ve followed these instructions correctly,(or if I’ve written them correctly) when you get back to the linky page, a thumbnail of your post should be at the bottom of the page along with anyone else’s that may have linked up.
Form here its good linkup etiquette (and part of the rules) that you click on other peoples posts and try comment on them. Some bloggers request that you comment on the 2 in front of you or various other rules. I just ask that you comment on the ones that appeal to you.
Another rule I have added is that you then click on some other posts on that blog so as to reduce the bounce rate. You don’t have to comment on other posts but its nice to at least visit them. If you are the first to link up that day, please do come back at a later time or date so that you can still comment when other people have linked.
Hopefully, people will do the same and you will get comments on yours too. It’s all about sharing and the more you share and comment, the more it comes back to you.
If you have any questions regarding this or any other parts of linking up, please add them to the comments and I will be sure to reply. This way, other people can see the questions too or you may already find the answer you’re looking for.
Thanks for reading. Hope to see you linking up soon 🙂
PS I really hope this makes sense, if it doesn’t, let me know and I’ll reword it.
