There are some blog posts that I write where I try and help people with ideas like our messy play or top 10 toys. There are some blog posts that I write where I share solutions for things like what to expect at your first parents evening or teaching your child tricky words. Some blog posts like this 5 things to do in Peterborough this Christmas, will give you suggestions about whats going on locally in the Peterborough area… and then there are these ones. Ones are mainly for my own joy, my own bank of memories and even if nobody ever clicked on them… I’d still write them and share them. The type that is all about my family and serves no more purpose than to have a place to keep some nice photos to look back on. And this one is no different.
Today we had a snow day. The perfect snow day where none of us had school or work to go to, none of us had plans any further than sitting in our PJs and occasionally scratching our erm ….. Ahem
So we had breakfast, layered up and headed out to our old neighbourhood (because it’s prettier than where we live now).
Dexter has seen the snow once, a couple of years ago. It was on the day I started slimming world and we (I) walked all the way there (him in the buggy) and said we’d play in the snow when we got home. Only, by the time we got out, you would never have known it had even snowed. So we never had the chance to build a snowman.
Today, however, was brilliant! Ok, so Bridget spent the entire time in the pram because it was too cold to get her out but Dexter and Paisley had a great time. We got the sledge out (that Liam and I bought before we had kids because it was easier to carry shopping home one year) and went for a walk, threw some snowballs and I even made a snow angel. The kids thought I was mental so they didn’t copy. But it’s days like this that I truly love spending time with Liam and the kids. They can all be a right pain in the arse at times, individually and together but days like this make the hard days worth it. Hearing them laugh instead of whining and fighting with each other is the best!
Did you have a snow day today? Tell me all about it! What did you get up to?
