Festive Friday Phone Dump and Round-up

January 1, 2016

Welcome one and all to the very first Friday Phone Dump of 2016.

This week we have a theme – Christmas and new year round-up posts.

Our Christmas I will admit, wasn’t anything you’d see in magazines or on pinterest but it was nice and for us, perfect. We had my family round for dinner, we had pressies and Liam was an absolute legend. He cooked and cleaned and looked after everyone all day. I didn’t have to lift a finger. He’s such a good egg.
Dexter got a dinosaur cape from my best friend which he opened a few days early. It’s hand made my someone on facebook but is such good quality. You can’t see in the picture but it has spikes all down the back and comes in a little bag to look after it too.
Christmas eve, we had Liam’s sister and our niece round for a takeaway and swapped gifts with them too and then before bed we left a drink, a mince pie and a carrot for Santa and his reindeer.
Santa came with a personalised sack of goodies for Dexter (which we got just before Christmas last year). Once he’d left the gifts, he sat and read my blog to see if I’d revealed our baby girls name yet (which we have) so that he could include her in the note he left behind.

Our Christmas day was spent at home with my mum, stepdad and the youngest two of my brother and sisters. It was a nice, calm day with the most delicious dinner, which Liam prepared from scratch and everyone enjoyed.
I think I got about 4 colouring books in total and 2 lots of pens so did quite a bit of colouring. I’ve always enjoyed colouring and before adult colouring books were made popular, I still always asked for colouring books for Christmas. It’s very relaxing. Just what I need right now.

Dexter is now at an age where he is able to properly play games and understand the rules. So we were very happy when he got these four Orchard Toys games. We’ve played all four of them several times over already, even on Boxing day, I took them with us to my mums and we played them with all the adults. I’m not sure who had the most fun to be honest, the youngest of the crowd being Dexter at 2 and a half or the oldest being my Nan who just turned 80 a couple of weeks ago!

Monday marked the first day that I could use my new Stick to Stigu Diary/Planner. I’d been very excited about using this in the hope that its going to help me be way more organised with this blog and scheduling posts but also remembering countless hospital/antenatal/postnatal/health visitor appointments etc. Life with one child is hard enough to keep track of, sod knows how much worse it gets with 2… but I’ll let you know I’m sure! By the way, the diary is awesome. It’s full of little reminders and tips and things to help you de-stress and live outside the box, as well as having space for notes, to-do lists and all sorts of other stuff in it.

I also had blood taken and urine sampled and after 2 and a half hours they finally let me go saying I need to go back and repeat it all in 2 days time and then have another growth scan in a week.
When we got in, Dexter wanted his face painted so I figured it only natural to paint fireworks on him. He has absolutely loved fireworks since seeing them on an episode of Bing (which he has watched a gazzilion times now!)
Then, since seeing them in real life in November, he’s been pretty much obsessed with them. I’m writing this on NYE at 10pm and currently he is asleep but our plan is to wake him just before it all kicks off, pause the TV, watch the live fireworks outside and then come back in an watch the commentary of London’s fireworks on the TV before promptly going to bed (because I am shattered after todays drama)

So what did you get up to? How was your christmas? Did Santa bring you everything you wanted? I hope so.
I would like to thank you all for joining in with these Friday Phone dumps and also to thank you for finding your way over to my littler corner of cyber space. I know I say primarily I write for myself but it’s so lovely to know that you not only found my blog in the first place, but that you come back to it again too. I wish you all a very happy and healthy new year and hope to maybe even come to know you as friends soon too

Aww fireworks don’t take much really, just a few flicks in one or 2 colours, start with the darkest. Jobs a goodun.
Heres hoping the hospital just let me go with no issues. Bag is packed though, just in case. (bar some snacks and a colouring book)
