5 things I would love for Mother’s Day

February 21, 2016

IMG-20160221-WA0000Jewellery, spa days, and all-singing-all-dancing-kitchen-appliances are all very lovely if you want to splurge but they aren’t what this Mum wants for Mother’s Day. Besides, aren’t those what birthdays and Christmas are for? To me, Mother’s Day is all about showing your Mum how much she is loved and how special she is, so here are 5 things that are on the top of my list this Mothering Sunday

A lie in.

I’m quite lucky on this count in that Liam quite often lets me lie in at the weekend. He’s a morning person. I am not. He enjoys getting out of bed and pottering around or tidying up while I am out of the way and I..? I don’t enjoy doing any of those things. I would much rather stay snoozing, eventually wake up around 10 or 11am and then just look at my phone for a bit before I actually move.

Breakfast in bed.

Contrary to the above, there are somethings I don’t mind being woken up for. One of those things is breakfast in bed.
My choice of breakfast would have to be either a full english fry up served with tea and orange juice, a bacon butty, a fried egg sandwich or fried/poached egg on toast.

A hand made gift.

Our children are still very young so this isn’t something they can make or do themselves so again, this will be down to Liam. Of course I don’t want Liam to actually make said gift but just help and guide Dexter in creating it and do something on behalf of Paisley. Something made by my children’s hands, especially for me, says way more than any store bought gift. I’m a big fan of gifts with thought and effort and something home made epitomises that, whatever the occasion.DSC_2643_1

A card with nice words.

Either hand written nice words or a card chosen in the shop for the words it has. If it brings a tear to my eye when reading it, you’re on to a winner. That said, Liam received a Peppa Pig card for his birthday because that’s what Dexter chose for him. I’ll gladly accept and love any card if Dexter chooses it and scribbles in himself, wether it’s a Mother’s Day card or not.

A day with my little family.

Whatever we do, wherever we are, it doesn’t matter as long as I’m spending the day with my children. After all, I wouldn’t be a mother without them. What things are on your list for Mother’s day? Or what are you getting your own Mum? Let me know in the comments. xMother and babies

Aw love and agree with all of these! Mother’s Day is about celebrating our motherhood so gifts and time spent reflecting that is the most important way to spend the day xx

Lovely ideas – I agree, I think these were always the sorts of things Mother’s Day was more about when we were little. #bestandworst

Thanks. As much as I’d like a new Dyson V6 and a weekend away, theres nothing better than a fry up and time with the family.

I was talking to some friend lately about how mums usually make crafty homemade atuff for dads -who dont actually want it! And yet dads never make stuff for mums and we would be ao made up with a handprint pic from thelittle uns! #MBFSL

Hahaha I would have to point Liam in the direction of the craft supplies but with enough nagging he would do it… eventually!
