4 Amazing Places to Visit as a Pregnant Traveller

June 13, 2018

It’s becoming more and more popular for mothers-to-be to take a well-deserved break at some point during their pregnancy (normally during the second trimester).

This holiday is often known as a babymoon and it’s the perfect excuse to escape from everyday life and take the time to do exactly what you want to, with little-to-no interruption.

Not sure where to go? Here are four amazing places to visit as a pregnant traveller.

1. Bath, UK

One of the most picturesque cities in the UK, Bath is steeped in history and offers plenty of opportunities for romance.

From the fascinating baths, where you can find out more about Roman traditions and indulge in afternoon tea, to the pretty Crescent Row and the array of independent eateries (why not try a Sally Lunn bun?), you can expect a chilled out city break.

You can also head out to the nearby countryside for even more relaxation — you’re never too far away since Bath is surrounded by green hills.

2. Limassol, Cyprus

Located on the southern coast of Cyprus, Limassol is considered to be an up-and-coming destination — get there before the crowds do and enjoy everything this sunny city has to share.

The best thing about Limassol is that you don’t have to choose between culture and the beach, because they’re both right there. You can rest on the beach (Akti Olympion has lots of sun loungers for visitors), learn about the city’s history at Limassol Castle, and seek shade in the neighbouring Archaeological Museum, which details the history of Cyprus’s development.

You can even bridge the gap between the two with a stroll along the seaside promenade of Molos, which has something to look at wherever you turn, including water features, sculptures, and palm trees aplenty.

Finish the day by sampling meze, a selection of delicious small dishes such as olives, vegetables, meats and dips like tahini and yoghurt. Holidaysafe’s travel guide recommends being sensible with what you eat, so it’s worth doing your research before you go, in case there are any local foods you can’t eat during pregnancy.

3. Nice, France

If you want the best of both worlds — minimal travel time and a sunny beach away from home — then Nice is the place for you, with a flight time of around two hours from the UK. The largest city in the French Riviera, Nice has plenty of beautiful beaches to choose from and can be explored at a gentle pace (if you can bear to move from your lounger, that is).

Stumble upon little crêperies, ice cream shops and cafés in the old part of the city, admire the ornately decorated cathedral and take your pick from one of the many art museums.

4. Sedona, Arizona

Look no further if the travel experience you’ve been dreaming of is a full-on pampering spa break. Sedona’s L’Auberge de Sedona hotel has a special prenatal package for parents-to-be, complete with tasty food and credit towards maternity spa treatments. There’s even a baby journal so you and your partner can record details of the pregnancy.

Top tip: Always tell your spa therapist about your pregnancy, including your due date and how many weeks have gone by.
