Wow! What a couple of weeks its been. Some good news but mostly one thing on top of another. I could do with a rest!
Both my Nan and my Mum have had hip replacements done in the last few weeks. Nan was starting to get more able to do things like making it up and down the stairs on her own and then mum went in for hers. Whilst Mum was in hospital, my Nan’s new hip came out of the socket so she had to go back in. She is now in some sort of cast holding her together while it heals but is back at home again.
Mum is managing with most things, she can hobble around on her crutches and is probably doing more than she should but is doing washing with the aid of a grabby stick. It’s amusing to watch. Good job she has a sense of humour. I try and pop round to them both and help with bits but its hard when they don’t have stair gates and I need to be able to control Dexter as well as doing what they need. He’s just got so much energy at the moment, I need eyes in the back of my head. Luckily my sister is able to do a bit more than me, and she drives so she can get there when they need her and get shopping and things if necessary.
Dexter turned 2 last week and as such, has changed into a different child overnight. Well, maybe not completely. He’s certainly napping a lot more! I cant remember when he last had a nap in the day but lately he’ll just fall asleep! We were singing row your boat and I rocked him backwards and he closed his eyes and just like that he was gone! At first I thought he was playing like he was just hiding but he was asleep literally in the space of 3 seconds!
We’d planned on having a bbq for his birthday in a local park area but rain put a stop to that so we had everyone round in our living room instead. It was a tight squeeze but the kids were all very well behaved and they loved it when I got the bubbles out in the messy tray!
On Monday he started preschool. I dropped him off at the door and let him go over to the toys and then I snuck away. If he knew I was going he would’ve clung to me. When I picked him up it was obvious he’d been upset. His face was red, his eyes were puffy and he had smeared snot all around his face. My poor boy looked heartbroken that I’d left him there! Talk about a guilt trip!! I took him back today and he had a little cry and worked himself up until he was sick but after that he settled down and they gave me some pictures of him having story time. He looked much more settled and happy when I picked him up so I know he’s ok.
We got a call from our letting agent to inform us that the owner of the house is selling up so we need to vacate. I really don’t want to move. Our house is situated between 2 great schools for Dexter and I’d be happy for him to get in to either of them. We are within walking distance to town, my mums, work, Dexter’s preschool, my Sister-in-law’s etc. We have a lovely green area outside with a beautiful village pub and a little park and to the back, about 3 minutes walk is the Nene Valley Railway. Dexter is obsessed with trains so he loves that! If you are looking for a buy to let property, please buy our house and keep us on as tenants so we can stay!?!?! Pretty please!??!
But finally, not wanting to end the post on a sour note, we are pleased to announce that Dexter will be promoted to big brother early next year. The Messy Stains family is growing in numbers as we are expecting our second baby around Jan/Feb
More to come on this subject soon…
