Hybrid by Babystyle – Stroller Launch

December 27, 2016

A few weeks ago, Paisley and I were very lucky to be invited along to the launch of the new Hybrid Stroller by Babystyle.
I’ve never been to a product launch before so I was very excited when Hannah of Budding Smiles offered us a lift which meant we were able to go and we would know somebody there.

The journey was nice – bar the babies taking turns with their competitive crying.
It was nice to be able to talk to an adult about adult things. I don’t get that very often. I have the kids at home during the day and then work in a call centre in the evening and we don’t really get away with much conversation at work. Anyway, I digress..

Babystyle Hybrid colour options

The range of combinations and colours of the Babystyle Hybrid. Colours shown here are (L-R) Stonewash, Phantom Black, Simply Navy, Mineral Blue, Wild Orchid and Lava Red

We arrived at Baby Planet in Derby and straight away we were made to feel very welcome. There was some lovely food laid out for us to help ourselves too and a few drinks too. We were invited to look around the store and there was somewhere where we could feed/change the babies if needed too.

My first impression of the stroller was instantly that the colour options look much better in real life compared to what I’d seen online. Before the event my favourite was the Pistachio or Stonewash but in real life, Mineral Blue was a lot more teal-like and vibrant. It’s gorgeous.

The bar across was a hit with the babies! All three of them held on straight away. Paisley, modelling the Mineral Blue, has never has never had a bar on her previous pushchairs.

fullsizerenderWe were given a demo of the stroller and how it converts and collapses etc and I have to say, it does look very quick and simple. Obviously, the point of a demonstration is to show you how easy something is, so the real test will be when we get it home and have to assemble it ourselves.

What is really unique about the Hybrid stroller is that it’s essentially 3 strollers in one:

The Edge is the base model. A comfy stroller you can convert into a tandem or city stroller if required. This will cost you £499.

The City. With its smaller back wheels, the City is a highly manoeuvrable stroller, perfectly designed for around the town. The cost of this model would be either £449 or you can purchase the Edge and then the city axle for an additional £40.

The Tandem. This starts life as either an Edge or a City stroller which is simply converted into tandem by adding the tandem axle and seat. The tandem axle will cost £50 and then you would need to add the carry cot (including rain cover and insect net)for £129 or an additional seat, also for £129.

With both the single seat options, you have the choice of having the seat parent facing or world facing, simply by lifting the seat off and turning it round. It’s also a complete travel system in that it can be used with a car seat, carry cot and seat.  This makes it suitable from birth right up until your child(ren) insist on walking. You can find out more about it here.

Babystyle are providing us with the Edge model for us to test and write an honest review. I can’t wait to put it through it’s paces.

With the review I’m hoping to be able to show you how easy it is (or at least appeared to be) to assemble, changing it from parent facing to world facing, adjusting the seat straps, collapsing it and all of the other features I can remember.
I hope it is as easy as they made it look. If it is, then I will be even more impressed.

I’ve never written a stroller review. If there are any features you are curious about, please let me know and I will try to include them.

It looks like such a good stroller! I think they’ve put a lot of thought into the design and there are lots of clever aspects to it.
